Zhedong Canal Museum

Information

The project site is located at the junction of Yuecheng District and Keqiao District, on the southwest side of Yellow Wine Town, and on the north side of the Zhedong canal, committed to build a Chinese modern and inherited canal historical and cultural area.

The project is based on the design purpose of ‘water waves as the pen, sailboats as ink, Chinese water-ink, and a thousand-year-old picture scroll’, using the technique of ‘ancient rhyme and modern work’, it creates an artistic image of the ancient canal of ‘Misty rain in the south of the Yangtze River, thousands of sails racing across’, which is a metaphor for the prosperity of the ancient Grand Canal.

As a whole, the treatment method of modern architecture is adopted, using the staggered movement of the courtyard and the building volume, it is integrated with the surrounding landscape environment. The shape is simple and agile, highlighting the white walls and gray tiles of the Jiangnan ink painting, which are agile and light.
