Qingchuan earthquake museum takes the theme of "be strong and never fall down" to express its commemoration of the Wenchuan earthquake. The fracture, dislocation, distortion and inclination of a huge rock presents the amazing destructive power of the earthquake. Although this huge stone is shattered by the earthquake, it still stands high, showing the unyielding spirit of Qingchuan people in the face of the disaster. The building layout is reasonable and the different internal functional divisions are explicit. It not only shows originality in architectural form and internal exhibition, but also brings the whole building into the scope of exhibition.
Although the building shows the impression of fracture, dislocation, distortion and inclination, whether it can be designed as an anti-seismic "house without collapse"s is a difficult problem. After careful consideration and demonstration , the design team decided to adopt the isolation technology. Rubber isolation bearings are installed under the building foundation to allow the building to slide on the rubber pads to reduce vibration, so as to separate the earthquake impacts from the superstructure during the earthquake. This new design thought can resist to the earthquake without affecting the bearing capacity. Some roofs are equipped with sunlight-guided lighting. Sunlight is collected through the outdoor roof and transmitted to the interior through the light guide pipes, so that the interior can enjoy more balanced sunlight lighting.
As an exhibition center, Qingchuan earthquake museum has applied many new technologies in the low-carbon field, following the basic principles of energy conservation, water conservation and environmental protection. On the premise of safety, applicability and economy, it is emphasized to adopt appropriate equipment and technologies to avoid waste. The economic and technical indicators of the project are reasonable, and the investment is strictly controlled, which has good economic and social benefits.
