Yangshan Rock Climbing Center commands a total land area of 18,710 square meters, a construction area of 8,746.98 square meters, and seating for 2,100 spectators and fans. The venue's planning and design focus on Keqiao's unique position as the textile capital of China and the world, employing the most advanced scientific and technological innovations to create and construct a glittering, translucent 'cocoon', representing the beginnings of silk and thread, and life itself. 

Semi-open stadiums and gymnasiums have been adopted to integrate the rock climbing center with the existing natural landscape of adjacent and surrounding Yangshan park, playing host to men's and women's race, relay, and triathlon events, with six gold medals up for grabs.
