Zhejiang University School of Medicine Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, as the first public hospital in China to pass the JCI certification, combines the strength of Chinese medicine with the strength of Western medicine, integrates medical care, teaching and scientific research and is an example of medical organization with good quality. To response with the requirements purposed by the government, to encourage provincial-level medical organizations with good quality to cooperate with the municipal-level medicinal organizations and to quickly improve the medical service capabilities and ability of district and county level hospitals, Zhejiang University School of Medicine Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital and the government of Shaoxing Shangyu District decide to build a new affiliated hospital in Shaoxing. This new affiliated hospital is planned to be located in Hangzhou Bay Shangyu Economic and Technological Development Zone, north of Wuxing West Road, west of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Canal, with a planned land area of 250 acres. The land area of the project is about 166,667.5 square meters, and it has the capacity of about 2000 beds for patients. 

After the completion, it will become a medical center which highlights comprehensive Chinese and western medical services, focuses on medical research, and integrates medical teaching and research.
